Intercollegiate Athletics provides tremendous opportunities for student-athletes to grow and mature. Student-athletes learn to deal with challenges and obstacles, how to balance and manage time, how to rise to the occasion when faced with stressful situations and how to communicate and work with others. The ability to provide athletic scholarship aid allows us to recruit and retain our talented student-athletes and give them the opportunity to reach their potential both on the field or court and in the classroom. Private gifts are the lifeblood of any successful athletic program and those private gifts assist us greatly in providing scholarship funds. I am proud of the student-athletes that are part of Blazer Nation both present and past. Our athletic alumni are doing great things in their chosen field and the student-athletes that are currently wearing the Blazer Red and Black are wonderful representatives of Valdosta State.
