Model UN
Goal: $5,000
Model UN students conduct extensive research on their assigned country, make speeches, negotiate, resolve conflicts, write resolutions, and navigate conference rules in order to mobilize cooperation to find solutions for the world’s most pressing problems. The VSU Model UN team is currently raising funds to attend a prestigious international competition that will be held in Banff National Park in Alberta Canada during November 2017. The conference will focus on issues related to indigenous people and the environment, and will also include cultural tours. This focus recognizes not only the conference setting, a UNESCO world heritage site, but also Canada's Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report that highlighted the “cultural genocide” experienced by its Aboriginal people over many decades. Your support of the VSU MUN program will give students the opportunity to reap the benefits of these valuable cultural and experiential learning experiences.
